Away from the spotlight for 4 years, Darren has emerged with a new sound - the first taste of which is the single co-written with and produced by Carl Falk in Sweden, mixed by Robert Orton in London and mastered by Bob Ludwig in Vermont! A song that Darren describes as 'peace talks between two lovers at war' 'Talk Talk Talk' is a slice of glorious synth-laden modern pop with swirling live strings and heartfelt lyrics.

The single also features a b-side, Darren's cover version of the classic Madonna song 'Angel'. In addition to the digital release Darren has also produced a limited edition of 1000 hand numbered purple vinyl 7 inch singles in a beautifully designed laser cut cardboard sleeve designed by album artwork artist John Gilsenan. The 7 inch features a vinyl only acoustic version of 'Talk Talk Talk (LIve in the Attic)' recorded in Darren's home studio specifically for the vinyl only release. This 7 inch single will be released exclusively via darrenhayes.com on July 31 and available for pre-order to Delicacy Members on July 1 and the public on July 3.

From the Ebay auction description:

Up for auction I have a rather rare Darren Hayes - Time Machine Tour concert program that has been signed by the charming man himself!

I chanced upon this recently and have decided to auction it with 100% of the winning bid to go to the Japanese Red Cross to assist after the terrible earthquake and tsunami crisis.
As per the second picture the tour book is signed on the front cover by Darren Hayes.

I am paying all listing fees, associated costs and even postage so 100% of your donation will get to where it's needed most.

Snare yourself a gorgeous collectable and feel good about helping those so desperately in need!

(I will gladly provide a receipt of the donation to the winning bidder upon payment completion)

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have and I will gladly answer to the best of my abilities!

Please note, I am in no way associated with the Japanese Red Cross or Darren Hayes, I only have to hope my attempt at assisting a good cause draws no ones ire.
If for whatever reason I am requested to take this listing down by either party I will do so, and I apologise in advance if this is the case.

HAPPY BIDDING!

4/17/11 01:43 am - sunhawk - DARREN HAYES SIGNS TO MERCURY RECORDS AUSTRALIA

from darrenhayes.com:

UK based Australian singer songwriter Darren Hayes is set to release his fourth solo studio album with a new label, Mercury Records Australia / Universal Music Australia later this year.

With over 25 million albums sold worldwide, as one half of Savage Garden and from his solo works, Hayes’ new offering has the industry abuzz. Already touted as a return to form album, it enlists an alluring array of contributors.

Hayes has co-written the album with writers and producers including Steve Robson (Taylor Swift/Leona Lewis), Swedish producer Carl Falk (Nicole Scherzinger 'Don't Hold Your Breath'), Walter Afanasieff (Darren Hayes/Mariah Carey), Brian West (Nelly Furtado) and Phil Thornally (Pixie Lott).

The album was mixed by Robert Orton (Lady Ga Ga) and mastered by the legendary Bob Ludwig. Alongside a modern pop production the album also features live orchestras recorded in Sydney and Stockholm by celebrated arranger Larry Muhoberac (Elvis, Streisand) and Swedish arranger Mattias Bylund - of the family famous for putting strings on all the classic Abba albums.

"I feel incredibly excited to be launching a new era of my career with the biggest record company in the world. In the past having my own independent label was a personal milestone. The decision to join forces with Universal today has allowed me to maintain all of the creative freedom I have enjoyed but now with the support and enthusiasm of a major label who want my new album to reach the widest possible audience. As an artist, this is a dream scenario. Universal respect my past but believe strongly in my future. Their enthusiasm for my vision coupled with their reputation as market leaders makes me proud to call Universal my new home.” says Hayes.

George Ash, Universal Music – President, Australasia adds, “It is an honour for us to be able to work with Darren Hayes. There are few artists that have had the creative and commercial success that Darren has enjoyed throughout his career; his partnership with Mercury Records will bring a new chapter to his music. Darren is one of the world’s greatest songwriters, whose beautiful voice has touched us all, we couldn’t be more excited to bring Darren’s new music to the world.”

Stay tuned for further single, album and tour announcements.

Congratulations Darren, that's fantastic news! Can't wait for the new album to get here! :D
